  1. I'm trying to figure out a memory or motherboard issue and not sure which is giving me issues. I have the Gigabyte B450M DS3H Micro mobo, and G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4-3200 CL 16 kit of ram. For whatever reason when I turn xmp on to achieve 3200mhz, its completely unstable. Running at 2133mhz (default) its completely fine. I see plenty of builds on pcpartpicker with the same mobo and kit of ram i have work fine for others. Besides swapping parts (that I dont have) is there a way to determine which giving me problems?
  2. I've been having issues with running *somewhat* graphically demanding games. I end up getting artifacts after some time, then immediately my comp freezes and I get an error saying my display driver stopped working and has recovered.. then returns to my desktop. Nothing is overheating as my temps are fine. My GPU will be at ~48 Celsius when this happens. CPU temp sits around ~38-40 as well. I thought maybe my psu fan wasn't working hard enough because when I looked at how fast the fan was spinning while the system was drawing the most power (in a game) it was moving extremely slow.. leading me to think that it might be over heating? i replaced the fan, and had the fan run at full speed at all times, yet nothing changed. I also ran a memory test for hours and hours with no errors to report. I've tried older video drivers as well to see if that was an issue. My gpu is free of dust, also has fresh thermal paste too, as I've mentioned above its certainly not overheating. I'm stumped. Any help is greatly appreciated. Any other information you guys might need just comment and I'll give to the best of my ability. 3. No, it wasn't ever exposed to extreme heat. It also wasn't pushed hard either as it was basically just used for school work, and web browsing. I did some googling around, and quite a few owners of this laptop have had the exact same issue as me. It powers on, but no display. An external monitor didn't work either. I did get it to power on once after its death.. It started to boot windows then just shut off. Since then.. nothing.
  4. Thanks guys. I'll clean the paste off of this, and apply new. I doubt it will boot, but it was fun seeing just how this thing was put together.
  5. So my girlfriend bought a laptop not so long ago (acer aspire 5552) and it didn't even last a year. It just wont turn on anymore. It powers on (fan spins, cdrom, power light indicator etc..), but no boot screen, or display at all. I decided to open it up to investigate, and when I removed the heat sink, I never seen this much thermal paste applied on a cpu.. ever. It's never been opened/serviced by anyone until I just opened it now. I know how much paste to apply on a desktop CPU, so it blew my mind when I opened and saw this.. So, it this normal?
  6. First let me just say thank you so much everyone for the prompt responses! The 260x would make my wallet very happy, and I think its a bit of a step up from my 570. Also another 4 gigs of RAM sounds nice..
  7. Title pretty much explains my situation. I am looking for a replacement that would offer the same performance (or better if under my budget price wise) that my 570 gave me. I am on a tight budget, so ~$150-200(USD) would be great. I game lightly I guess you could say. CS:GO, Diablo 3, Minecraft, WoW as well as other games that aren't as GPU demanding such as Binding of Isaac rebirth, Hot Line Miami etc.. My current rig specs: (heres a link to my dead asus gtx 570 fermi incase you want to see the exact specs: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121432 ) CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition Thuban 6-Core @ 4.0Ghz cooled by corsair h100 Motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-UD3 AM3+ RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 PSU: Rosewill RG630-S12 – Green Series 630-Watt 80 Plus Bronze Thanks in advance for your suggestions/advice as it is extremely appreciated! If any additional info is needed please let me know!
