Memory channel b not working

so the problem I am having is pretty self-explanatory, all the memory in channel b is showing up in the os but is not usable.

all memory shows up in the bios but it says only the channel a dimms are usable

Have you tried swapping the Channel A sticks with the Channel B stcks and vice versa?

yup, no matter how i do it it doesn't seem to work

Re-seat the CPU and memory.  Check for damaged pins in the CPU socket.

i tried reseating just a few hours ago

 

i also took a look at the pins under a microscope and they all appear to be in good condition

If the failure does not follow the sticks when you move them, the pins in the memory slot may be fouled by corrosion/dust or the CPU may be faulty.

i might try cleaning out the slots, and if required go to freegeek and get a cheap 1156 xeon

Turned out it was some bent pins in the socket
