Folding @ Home rig

Datrat

I was thinking of making a cheap rig that I could leave on all day to Fold (High efficiency) and I was wondering what suggestions people had for a system. I guess this is sort of like mining, so would that mean I get the cheapest dual or quad-core CPU and then get like a 470/480/570/580?

-Moved to New Builds and Planning-

For Folding@home, the general recommendation is to have at least 1 CPU core free per GPU. If you'll be folding solely on the GPU, then a dual core CPU will work, as long as it doesn't bottleneck your GPU. What's your budget?

I have an old amd 6350 with a 560ti running on it it only makes about 50,000 point per day on high. My i5 8650k with a 980 makes about 500,000 ppd on medium so it really just depends on what you want to spend.
