Try replugging them. Idk why but i'm reading on some forum that the scarlett sometimes does that when you plug in headphones for the first time. Quite annoying if that's the case. How does the monitor out sound? Is it one channel too?

You have anything else you can test the adapter or headphones on to make sure it's not either of those causing the problem?

Sounds like the port is defective to me, you bought used right?

Depending on the place they may have buyer protection.
