Server Fan Not Working

Xenon54

I have a dell poweredge 610 server, when I bought it it was to loud so I modified the odd two fan 8 pin connector while doing that I used a multi-meter to check what connections did what, in doing so I shorted two of the pins accidentally the original fans still all worked but now that I have modified the connector to be a standard four pin and putting the original connectors in parallel to each other, three connectors to each of the two fans, when I did that the fan worked only if the problem connector was unplugged if it was plugged in the fan would stop immediately. The connectors do not need to be used but would anything else be damaged and can I fix it?

My New fans in the server are 140mm however a 90mm fan was not having any same issues?

You could have shorted out something on your board. If this happened I am afraid that there is no way to repair it. You can use an adapter to power the fans directly of your PSU if you can not get the board connections to work,

Did I fix your problem? Please feel free to donate to me at <Link Removed>

Any donation is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
