New build PC won't start!!!

Go to solution Solved by jinroh10,

Make sure that the mobo is not touching the standoffs causing it to short out. This is a similar case that I had and needed to put rubber grommet s on the standoffs so that the back of the mono pcb was not touching either the standoffs or the back of the case. I know you don't want to do it but assemble everything outside of the case and see if it power up. Please keep us posted so we can try something else.

Hey guys,

So straight to the point, I finally built my pc today. When I was finally done I started up the pc, it was on for a split second and then stopped. I checked if my 24 pin, 8 pin and 6 pin were correctly in place and if my power switch was in the correct place, but still nothing.

I really need some help here!!!

Thank you,

Bas Uitermark

That big ass plug that goes into the motherboard, make sure that's in real solid, for months I thought mine was and it wasn't, I kept getting crashes and it was simply that the plug was losing connection where I hadn't forced it in enough. You can't be gentle with everything.

i see your problem

give me 2 m

-- edit --

if your pc is all new parts go to the store exchange your psu while its a great brand

Radeon R9-280X - 30A and a 550W psu minimum

your psu
  • ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91
  • Modular
  • 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified
  • 100 - 240 V 50/60 Hz
  • +3.3V@24A, +5V@24A, +12V1@24A, +12V2@24A, -12V@0.8A, +5VSB@2.5A

i would get a single rail psu even though you have on the 12v rail a total of 48 amps its devided in 2 so it could be your problem even though tecnicly it should work

hope this helps

@jinroh10 THANK YOU MAN!!!! Indeed it shorted out on the case, everything worked perfectly outside the case, now I need to figure out how prevent this from happening inside the case. @phoenixto I think my problem is solved, if any new problems occur I will get the new PSU.

Thanks you guys!!!

Make sure you have every single standoff securely put in and check if your board is touching any metal around the case

So here is an update guys. I put everything back together into the case (this time checking if the standoffs were securely put), checked all the wiring and finally it al worked. I had no trouble at all, Windows 8.1 was easily installed and everything is correctle working now.

I would like to thank you all for your support, I wouldn't have figured this out on my own earlier today.

Thanks guys!!!
