Mini Display to Display on 2nd monitor enough?

RMFLB

Hello All,

I just have a simple question. If I buy a 144hz monitor to game on. Will a mini display to display cable carry enough from my laptop to push it it fine at 1080? I know some cables back in the day would only carry 30hz or 60hz and I want to make sure I'm ordering the right stuff before hand. Thanks!

Mini-DisplayPort is the same as DisplayPort, just in a smaller connector.

If the port is DP 1.2 then it will support 144Hz 1080p. DP 1.2 came out in 2010, so it will most likely work.

I think the bigger issue will be that your laptop won't be powerful enough to push 144 frames a second at 1080p.

No, if the cable will then my laptop should. I have a rog gl702vi, 7700, gtx1080, which it already has a 120hz panel but I needed something a little bigger than 17". This basically replaced my desktop since I have to take it back and forth to work every day for modeling, but thank you for the reply!
