Thinking About Upgrading Bad PC

Hello, just was wanting to upgrade a crappy PC I have had lying around... I am looking to play a game called Robocraft at lowest settings (something I can only currently do in smallest resolution).

I hope this is the correct forum to ask for help, as I am new here :)

I am guessing that it will be cheaper to buy a new computer for the cost to performance...

My CPU currently is an AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 B24 dual core...

My Graphics Card is an Nvidia Geforce 210

The power supply is a 240w power supply...

Edit: This computer is SFF sadly, and my Motherboard is a Hewlett-Packard 3047h (XU1 Processor)

This was an old work computer I snagged for free, so if I COULD upgrade them that would be amazing...

Thanks :)

It's AM3, which is a dead socket, but there are still many upgrades.  I would upgrade to either an old Phenom 2 hex-core or an FX 6300 if your motherboard supports it.
As for the GPU, anything between a GT 1030 and maybe a GTX 1060 3gb would suffice.
Just get an entirely new PSU, that thing won't be doing much.  Go with at least a 80+ Bronze 400w PSU.
This is all under the assumption that it isn't an SFF machine, if it is, well, God help you.

It won't work.

It has low wattage psu. And even upgrading the psu won't work because HP uses proprietary connectors.

Try using something like a gt1030

Try pairing it with a prebuilt from HP.

It's pcie slot isn't able to deliver enough power.

except that's not even the same prebuilt as OP's rig, and userbenchmark has many logs on the 3047h motherboard being benchmarked with the gtx 1050/ti and one on an RX 570.

Lol, there are literally no benchmarks on the internet fr that prebuilt.

Also, the prebuilt in tht video is better than OPs rig.

Also, OPs PC is a HP 6005 pro sff...

so? what, you think they keep things exactly the same for every single computer HP sells?

So the general consensus is just get another computer, right? Or buy a Gtx 1050 maybe...

I would get more power for my buck this way I bet...

if you can save up abit more, then maybe a used i5/Xeon rig and HD 7950/gtx 670 is possible, otherwise a 1050/ti and 4-6 core am3 CPU.

  1. Build a PC with old xeons. Something like a x3440. It goes around fr about $7-8.
  2. Purchase a compatible Mobo fr around $40. Try getting it from eBay or AliExpress.
  3. 8gb ddr3 ram fr around $25-30.
  4. A psu.. something like a cooler master masterwatt or Corsair cxm.. they go around fr about $40-50.
  5. A cheap 240gb SSD fr about $30-40.
  6. A new case fr about $10-20.
  7. Search on Craigslist/fb marketplace/eBay fr used gpus. Get something like a gtx 750ti/760/770/960/970/1050ti. They all go around fr $50-120.
  8. In this way, u can get a decent gaming rig fr around $200.
