Hey, so i recently updated my oneplus 6 to oxygenos9 official, and since then i can not find the setting where i set the volume buttons to change the media volume and not the phone volume. This wouldnt be a problem if i wouldnt have to go to settings to change it from the homescreen.

Does someone know where the setting is gone to? I dont want to download a third party app for something i can change in the settings...

Thanks.

I think the volume rocker adjusts it's function depending on what the phone is doing. My OnePlus 6 is still running Android 8.1 and if I just use the volume with no apps running, it only adjusts the ringer volume. If I open a media app such as Spotify, Google Play Music or YouTube, the volume rocker adjusts the media volume and not the ringer volume. So I don't think it's a specific thing to Android 9. Unless there is a software setting that can set the volume rocker to adjust media volume even if no media app is open in Android 8.1 that I don't know about.

Try opening a music app and then trying the volume rocker.

Stop and think a second, something is more than nothing.

There is an arrow that you can press that will show you Alarm,Media and Ring sliders whenever you are after clicking the volume up or down.

Can you  click on this Media output circle ? Does it show something ?

It shows me a list of audio devices, so like use the builtin speakers or a bluetooth speaker, and the gear wheel just opens the sound setting page in the settings menu.

That's kinda sad if they haven't implemented that option yet. I can' thelp you directly as I am waiting for my Android 9 update..

maybe....I reckon there's an option to switch the volume panel from the left side to the right side or vice versa, in the same page that you can change that, is there any option for your problem ?

Not that i could find, but i would satisfy with changing the functionality of the volume buttons, as i rearly change the phone volume, but often need to change the media volume. In the older version there was an optipn to change it, but it is gone
