Deciding between these monitors

Looking to upgrade my monitor. Currently using an Asus 1080P monitor, but it’s a 75hz refresh, which my build way overruns. On PUBG with a mix of medium settings, I typically run 160-200 frames, which results in some serious tearing. I’ve decided I’d like to stick to 1080 because I like a 24” display, and I didn’t really notice a whole lot of difference in that size between the 1080 and a 1440 clarity wise. Currently looking at three monitors, similarly speced, but without a hands on loom idk what the difference will be betwixt their panel quality and proprietary anti blur etc.

BenQ XL2536

ASUS VG248QE

LG 24GM79G-B

There may be others that I’ve not considered yet as well you may feel are better. Basically I’d like a 24” 1080P with a 144hz refresh, good panel, good color, quick response time etc. essenatislly a good clean image that won’t ghost or be overly dark etc.

Just grab one of the 1440p 144hz IPS korean displays, doesn't matter that it's free-sync

I was wanting to stick with a 24” 1080P display. Side by side I didnt really notice much of a difference (to my eyes anyway) in a 24” 1080 and a 1440. An IPS panel would be good over a TN I suppose so long as there isn’t a ghosting issue.

You're unlikely to notice ghosting, they don't make any 1080p IPS 144hz displays, your system is a bit overkill for 1080p

They do make some VA 1080p 144hz displays however.

Yeah, I wouldn’t mind a 1440 even if there isn’t a huge difference (to my eyes) in a 24” display, I’m just nervous about FPS loss. I’ve heard (might be wrong) that you end up losing like 50% of your frames. So if I’m currently pushing between 160 and 200 on PUBG for example. I’d only get like 80-100. But I suppose I don’t know if that’s really true or not.

You could still run games at 1080p or just turn down the render scale if a game has one.

That... is a good point. I dunno why I didn’t remember I can just change the output to 1080 in games I want a higher frame rate on then to 1440 for games where high frames isn’t really a concern like Elite Dangerous etc.

Your budget will allow for a 240hz display. Are you interested in that or is 144hz good enough?

For 144hz, the ViewSonic XG2402 or XG2401 are some of the best for gaming as they have good motion handling. However, if you are interested in better color performance, the Samsung C24FG70 can offer that at the cost of worse motion performance.

Higher is better, especially if G-Sync is available.

240hz is totally not necessary unless you're playing esports games professionally or something like that.

also free-sync is usually way cheaper than G-sync.

True but I have an Nvidia GPU so Freesync doesn’t work on that.

You can always drop to say 100hz and enable fast-sync to get rid of screen tearing.

But you're unlikely to notice screen tearing at 144hz, since frames stay on screen for less time.

The price of G-sync simply isn't worth it for something that's relatively minor overall.

The only 240hz monitor with gsync is the ViewSonic XG2560 but at 240hz, @Streetguru is right. G-Sync loses a lot of value. Even at 120hz, I have it disabled and I really only see screen tearing when I am really looking for it. Of course, your eyes are different than mine so you may have a different experience. I'd rather try out the Dell-Alienware or Asus 240hz monitors with FreeSync as they both have better implementation of the panel.

As for 240hz or a lower refresh rate, there is definitely an argument to getting 144hz like the ViewSonics I mentioned earlier and saving money or getting a 1440p 144hz panel like the Dell S2716DG which performs well in gaming, especially with ULMB enabled at 120hz or even one with an IPS panel like the Asus MG279Q

Mmkay. The 279Q was one of the ones I was just looking at actually.
