Ubuntu server static IP not working

Hello i am tryng to set a static IP on a ubuntu server 18.04

 

the ip i am tring to set it it is 

192.168.1.210

 i am trying to use the subnet mask 255.255.255.0/24but it gives me the error that the IP dosnt contain in that subnet mask

Wrong subnet. You don't use both the mask address and prefix together.

 

If you need mask address, you only use the mask address, that's the 255.255.255.0.

If you need subnet mask prefix, you use it only as network address (which here would be 192.168.1.1/24).

Umm, no. Windows also uses dot-decimal notation for subnet masks in network settings, not the network address.

i ment in windows i never use that /24

so i wasa bit confused.

AFAIK in Linux you don't typically use /24 either, except for some specific services such as NFS exports.
