Hi guys, I have a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series - 5547 i5 4210. The touch screen was recently damaged and no longer works (cracked screen). I disabled the touch screen so it acts as a normal screen now which I am totally ok with. It is a 40pin connector, but I was wondering, if I use a 30pin connector (non touch capable) can I just keep it that way? I don't care too much for the touch screen, never have. It was just available when I purchased it.

Other than that, I need serious help. I can't remove the screen and everywhere I look online requires FULL disassembly of the laptop. I mean EVERYTHING. Palmrest, HDD, heatsink, metal base. It's insane and I refuse to believe the replacement for the LCD requires FULL disassembly. Those same videos don't even show how to remove it stating it is too difficult for even professionals.

I've watched videos where changing the screen requires the removal of the bezel, but it seems mine is completely attached? Apparently it's a thing since it was a touch screen and not a normal LCD.. I managed to get a finger under the bezel but it won't budge and I'm not about to yank on it for the sake of trying to replace it. I read somewhere that it requires a heat gun because the adhesive is so strong there, wouldn't it harm my keyboard or maybe some internals?

I would seriously appreciate any help =/
