Hey guys,

My computer has suddenly stopped turning on and only POSTS with the error "Fan speed error" and tells me to do something with the fan speed low limit. I have an ASUS Z170 PRO/GAMING AURA motherboard and its been going fine for over 1.5 years and this problem just happened now.

I tried unplugging and replugging the CPU fan header with no luck, and I can't really use the BIOS because the CPU temps reach well over 70 degrees Celsius, which is when I'm forced to turn the computer back off again, and then wait till it gradually cools back down. I checked the ASUS website for that error and I tried all of the troubleshooting steps other than updating the BIOS (kinda a noob on that subject, so I'm not sure if that's a good idea. I don't want to have it update the BIOS and then it overheat and fry something.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

is your cpu fan spinning properly? (or in the case of a watercooler, is the pump working?)

I do have a water cooled CPU, but I don't know if it is running or not. I built the computer myself, in case you were going to ask that question, but I would guess that it isn't running because the CPU temps keep climbing.
