eGPU

Yifti

So I am planning to buy the following laptop, which I will travel with and go to school with, and game on it. My thoughts for months have been to buy a 3k$ monster PC, but I realized since I will only have 5 years of use from it I would prefer to not spend 3k$, or at least not on something that isn't portable, since I want to buy a laptop for school. I also thought about buying an eGPU which will sit at my house for when I want to game. So will all the products fit together and work? (please note I will buy the graphics card from this seller, cheapest).

BTW, does anyone have any other cheaper recommendations? Especially for the eGPU box and the GPU itself, the laptop is one that I really like, both externally and internally.

Thanks!

there are cheaper 1080 ti's, but that looks good.

i wouldn't get a 1080 ti, as there may be a thunderbolt bottleneck.

honestly why don't you get a more mobile laptop (i7-8xxxU) and a desktop for home?

Tbh, I really like the looks of the xps, and it's the exact power I need for traveling. The razer laptops just don't quite match me, and I mostly don't like razer so everyone in class gonna call me a fanboy so nah

And too flashy. I'm afraid I'll leave my bag at my homeclass in the break time and someone will steal it.

I need a good looking cheap thin and light, with some capabilities and a fricking Ethernet port.

Does any from the XPS line has ethernet?

its not light, but has a i9. also has ethernet.

doesnt look to "gamery" too.

Nah, I need a light. My back hurts anyways.

Found the solution: https://www.gearbest.com/usb-ethernet-adapter-_gear/?vip=3251791&gclid=CjwKCAjwuO3cBRAyEiwAzOxKssKq_4xo2aGGAMJkCdF-gYBj9-AD03ayuNCZ2omyMyqOGcE4U0SnLhoCnOIQAvD_BwE

And maybe get a USB splitter for more ports.

And I just found out that the xps 15 9570 sometimes has thermal limitations and problems... Will this be a problem with the 1080ti?
