So, this problem started around 2 months ago and after searching for weeks for the solution, I never found it.

I have a gtx 1050 ti with an Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-6500 CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3201 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s) (yes I copy and pasted)

During games like gta 5, my gpu temps go up to 90c... While fortnite on the other hand, should require less power than gta 5, gets my gpu up to 97c...

I don't know what the problem is. I am thinking it is my gpu fan, and there is only 1. How do I get another fan, and what is the solution to this? It has been causing frames to go down by 10s. Thank you

Well, it's the summer, it's bound to get hot.

Does the room you game in have AC?

Does your pc have intake/exhaust fans?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

Hello Legitstrafes,

Are the GPU fans spinning? If so how old is the GPU? You might want to look into getting an aftermarket cooler, like accelero twin turbo III. You could also force the gpu fans onto 100% using nvidia performance tool.

Thank you,

Your GPU is stuck in a case with the CPU, motherboard, power supply, and perhaps ineffective airflow is an issue.  If its getting hot, try opening the side cover and seeing it it affects the temp.  A freeware app like GPUTEMP will log the temp over time.  If you have a cat, check the GPU cooling fan blades and heatsink for dust clogging.

Make sure the fan is spinning. No 1050 should be near that temp unless the cooling had been compromised.

If it is spinning, I'd pull it apart & reapply the thermal compound, using some Mx-4 or that Kryonaut (?) stuff.

Also, try turning Vsync on & off. There was a glitch with Overwatch shortly after launch where the menus were trying to render hundreds of frames per second, because it was such a 'simple' scene. This overloaded even high-end cards.

And as others have said, simply make sure your system had adequate airflow.

I had this problem when it was freezing cold outside as well. But I moved recently, so it gets a little hotter. My room does have ac. And it has 1 big fan in the case, and one on the gpu

Thanks, I'll actually check if it is spinning. I used to hear the sound, but back then it was still at 88c max. I think the fan is broken someway. I even opened the gpu and the thermal paste was there with no problem.

Yeah I used to have a cat, but I clean every week. Thanks

Yeah, I am going to try to buy a new fan. Thanks

The GPU cooling fan should generally do the trick unless its old and beginning to seize.   A new card wouldn't normally suffer from this.  If you had the heatsink off, make sure you put it back on right.  The heaksink paste should still be gooey.  If the air in your case is hot and isn't being moved out, the GPU even if the fan is spinning can't cool effectively.
