Laptop Internet Not Connected

Hello, I think about a month ago my internet connection on my windows 8.1 showed as connected but it was, so after trying for a week I decided to try a reset on my whole laptop and delete everything but I needed a windows installation or recovery media. then I tried a system image recovery and that worked but it deactivated my windows 8.1 . all I need help with is how to enable my internet, please help I've tried everything I could, I tried my USB drive but my laptop didn't recognize it

Without actual errors (or screenshots from those errors) the solution could be anything from turn on your computer first to maybe there is some bit wrong in the firmware of you driver and you need to change that....
Please provide some more information. Run things like ipconfig and show the results and explain what kind of connection you have (wired/wireless) and if other devices do work etc.
