The current processor in my computer is a i5-4460 3.2ghz and it can handle gta v and fall out 4 on ultra perfectly fine.

However, I am still thinking of upgrading it to an i7-4790k 4ghz, however, It seems to be the same lga1150 socket as my current one so should it work as a drop in replacement, or is there more to consider like motherboard and bios?

i don't know that much about modern computers, as my main hobby actually is vintage computers.

so even though the current processor is 3.2ghz that doesn't matter?

This is a pre-built machine I am upgrading piece by piece. so anything that's also lga1150 would work I am guessing?

Frequency does not matter, that's determined solely by your CPU, not anything else.

Just about anything that's LGA 1150 should work, yes.

The 4790k might require a BIOS update as well at the i5 4690k. They're both "devil's canyon" the super high end haswell CPUs. BIOS update couldn't hurt anyways, and it's really easy.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B
