I was hoping i could find some help deciding on what computer to buy.   I am looking for a rig that will only be used for gaming, and could also support streaming as well.  I have a budget of around $600 so these are the options i have come across so far.

Please also tell me if there are specific things i have to look for that these computers dont have.  Based on the research i have done, i think these computers have a little bit of everything, but again, i really need a second opinion

the help is much appreciated!!!

so the Dell Precision would be able to run the game? seems like its an amazing deal if it can.  Also, if it does run the game, is this computer easy to swap and install new parts?  I can easily upgrade the computer as i play... just hard to drop everything at once

This and find a used R9 290x for about 150$.

Pick up OS for 25$ from Kinguin if it is needed

This will handle streaming really well

Edit: Other GPUs to pick up can be R9 390x/R9 390, gtx 970 (i would avoid the 970 due to Vram limitations)

No, the R5 is the CPU, you will get that regardless.

You will pick up the R9 in addition to this build

it'll run games just fine once you fit a decent GPU in there. upgrading the CPU and GPU should be business as usual, just look up a couple guides if you aren't sure.

no need to raise the budget when a used R9 290x will perform the same as the rx 580.

that is providing he can get his hands on one

I was looking around online and found this...

is it smart to do a little bit of shortcut?  i was thinking of maybe buying a computer that i can just swap parts in and out.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/DELL-PRECISION-T3600-XEON-E5-1620-8GB-1TB-DVD-RW-AMD-RADEON-R7-250-GPU-WIN10-PRO/253841069199?hash=item3b1a1b548f:g:oGIAAOSw2stbiF0B

on the other hand though i have always wanted to run a computer i built myself.   I guess the problem i have is i would rather have a computer sooner than later and upgrade as I go.  Those two computers are definitely in my price range though so regardless I am that much closer

that is a nice build for a small budget. the issue is that you will have to swap most components for new ones, it will get expencive over time.

id grab the first build i did and look at getting one of the GPUs i mentioned for about 140-170$. its a tough price to pay, but it will last a while and you will be on a newer plattform

That's true. You already made a very compelling build for the said budget. Thus, I made an alternative that's more convenient albeit more expensive.

very true, a very nice build you did. could maybe cut a couple of corners and do it within budget. (though it would involve dropping the case among other things)

@Herby you can use the pc you found. though you will have to spend 220$ (a GPU, a new PSU and a small SSD) to get it on par with the other builds suggested. and you will be on a outdated plattform (not to mention only having 4 cores 8 threads to use for streaming). the other build it is just to slot in extra ram or swap the CPU without changing the mobo.

the end cost would be 400$ now, and another 250-300$ to get a new CPU, mobo and RAM for CPU upgrade in the future

don't make multiple of the same threads, just wait and see if anyone else answers. and don't just claim you found the T3600 when someone else sent you the link, feels abit rude IMO.

@GoldenLag yeah you make a great point.

Roght now im tinkering with the build you sent me but i am already starting to buy parts for it.

If i were to buy used parts... which would they be.  I know buying used parts can be a gamble in terms of long term use but if i were to cut some corners

@GoldenLag can i swap the CPU in your build with for an AMD-4000?

i could always upgrade the CPU right?

again you guys have been so much help i can even describe

sorry to annoy

but thinking about it i wouldnt even need the PC to stream because i have a mac desktop that i will be keeping.  I can just get a capture card and use the mac to stream and to provide camera and other overlays.  considering this... is there a cheaper build i can go with?

Do not get an AMD 4000 CPU, its a bad buy regardless of price.

Regions where you can cut is to not buy a case and roll without one for a while.

A 1TB HDD should be able to picked up used for 10$ (or less)

Do not skimp on the PSU

Dont touch the RAM.

If you want to save a bit on the GPU a HD 7970/R9 280 should be somewhat cheaper than the 290x (but lower performing)

A capture card will be a cost of its own, which is an issue

This plus one of the GPUs ive mentioned will be able to handle streaming (though not high quality streaming)

New CPUs can still be slotted without changing the mobo.

You can set up you mac as a rendering box yes, what mac is it?

it is a 2011 desktop.   It is also really fast because i upgraded the ram, only use it for microsoft word, and use an external hardrive for my files and applications.

If i do this build, would a CPU be necessary to start?  I would get an el gato card instead which i can find used for a good price (also since used capture cards tend to work fine)

i found online that this CPU runs pretty well along with fortnite and similar FPS shooters

if  you do the build i listed above and you get one of the mentioned GPUs you will still have to get the CPU in that build as it is neccesary for the system to work.

if you go Herman`s way you will follow his instructions.

if you use a capture card you still have encode the footage on the pc that is capturing.

also saying it is a 2011 desktop says nothing about its speed
