I'm currently running a 7600K in my itx gaming system, and while it's great, I just can't push it deep into 5ghz territory in order to keep up with the games I play (mostly CPU intensive). If I were to upgrade, should I keep my mobo and swap in a 7700K or should I make the jump to CFL/Cannon lake/whatever 9th gen is?

I have too many computers. List here.

get a better GPU, the 7600k is perfectly fine.

Not in the games I play haha. I knew what I was getting into when I got a 1060. I could've gotten a 1070 but it wasn't worth it and the 7600K was a good upgrade from a 6600K for me

What games to You play? I agree with @ShadowChaser, You should upgrade your gpu to the new RTX Gpus/ high end 10 series if u want.

Intensive games: Kerbal Space Program, MS Flight Sim, XPlane

E-sport like titles: Rocket league, osu!

Chill games: Polybridge, I am Bread.

As you can see, none of these games are very graphically demanding, even at 3x1080p or 1080p 144hz. CPU is all that matters. (GPU barely hits 60% on a good day)

If I was u I would just put your money somewhere else. You already have a amazing CPU. You Could alternatively w8 for the 9th gen Intel cpus and get one of those. You could also get a 1st gen threadripper b/c they are on sale right now for cheap.

I wish I could get a TR1 but I have no use case for a 8c/16t cpu. I already have a streaming setup with 12c/24t so it'd be kinda redundant. I was just wondering if the OC potential of a 7700K would be worth the ~$200 to get it in my scenario.
