Windows corrupted and stuck in loop.

rfcokilljoy

My system decided to die after crashing while a driver was being installed. And I am now stuck in a loop of

"repairing windows"

"Failed to repair automatically"

And I also cannot reset the pc as it says it is unable to. And it quits at around 35%. I cannot get into safe mode either.

Is there any way for me to plug in a usb stick with windows on it and reset it from there? Honestly I'd like to keep my files as it has some 3D modelling work on there that I'd rather not lose. So is there any way? My files are all saved in a secondary hard drive. Can I just reformat the ssd with windows on it? I'm panicking tbh.

And failing all else, could I just install windows again on the ssd and overwrite everything that was on it? If I did that could I easy bring back my hardrives contents without having to use a recovery program? Theres quite a lot on there and would need a payed for version to get it all off.

Thankyou,

Adam.

Yes, just create bootable windows 10 usb drive and reinstall windows on the ssd. The files on your secondary drive won't be changed.

Inside some old case I found lying around.

- Try using the Windows 10 installer / Click Repair your computer

- I think there's an option to boot to safe mode

- or just do a clean install of Windows 10.  Be sure to format all partitions...... on your boot drive.  Just to err on the side of caution you can disconnect your HDD.

I think awhile back I had the same problem.. just stuck on repair.  Luckily I didn't have any important files on my boot drive... just did a clean install  good luck

I have actually done this before, and kept all of the original files and programs. What you do is you reinstall windows on top of the old install, so everything goes into "windows.old". Then you want to copy all of the files from your old install and put them on your new one, and click "Skip" for "replace file in destination", as you want to have the good windows install and the programs.

That is what worked for me, but I don't know if it will work for you.
