Just being googling around and stumbled across RoCE Remote Direct Memory Access support in Windows 10 Pro for Workstation and was wondering if Linus has played around with it for his servers. Id be interested in seeing the results if he had.

yeah my bad didn't think about it.

yeah it is and given a lot of the server toys Linus gets to play with he says its not a mainstream tech but in time could work its way down to mainstream, could be cool to see.

This stuff won't make its way to mainstream, there is absolutely no requirement for it.  RDMA (RoCE or an alternative iWARP) is used in high performance network interfaces to reduce latency and CPU cycles/interupts.   It sounds like a sensible thing to bring to the consumber but consumers won't be getting 10G internet for a long time and there are no real requirements for it.  That's not to say you can't go out and buy an RDMA capable network interface, its just not going to give you any real benefit in the workloads a consumer would have.

I have Mellanox 40G QSFP+ cards with RoCE support that I use on my Arista 7050-T and I can assure you not even I can see the 'real world' benefit on the workloads I have in my lab and home network configuration.  RoCE and iWARP are technologies for data centers pushing enormous amounts of network IO, generally in relation to storage networks rather than data networks.
