I'm building a Windows/OSX dual boot system soon, and I'm planning on partitioning a 1TB m.2 nvme ssd into two 500gb volumes for each operating system and some programs. I also want to install a 4TB secondary hdd. My question is, do I have to partition the hdd into two volumes in order for both operating systems to make use of it, or could they both access the same volume? It would be handy to be able to share files across both operating systems like that if it's possible. Thanks in advance.

You'd need two separate partitions because Windows and MacOS use different file systems.

MacOS can access Windows NTFS drives, but Windows has no native way of accessing apple HFS+ or APFS filesystems.

However, it's worth noting that because there's no legal way to build a hackintosh, it's against the forum community guidelines to discuss building one. General questions like filesystem support should be fine, but if you need advice on actually configuring/building your machine you might have to look elsewhere.
