Hi community,

My HP ENVY Ultrabook 13'' 7th gen will be refunded by Amazon because of a faulty speaker.
As for a new purchase: I hesitate between the HP ENVY Ultrabook 13" 8th gen (1099€) or the Huawei Mate X Pro (1699€)

It will be used for civil engineering and computing sciences studies, watching movies and eventually web-browsing - no gaming.

I have watched multiple reviews and evaluated the cons- and pros of both laptops (specs, features, price,...).

But I'd like your opinions and thoughts in order to saturate every angle of the "dilemma" so I can make the most informed purchase possible.

Also, can anyone confirm if you can Dualboot Windows 10 and Linux on the Huawei Mate X Pro machine?

Thanks!

Technically, you can dual boot Linux and Windows 10 on anything as long as you've got the system resources to handle the heavier operating system(Win10 in this case) and the drive space to hold both operating systems and still have room for your various apps and files.

Both shares similar pros and cons, however the Matebook X Pro has a better design, TB3 and better 3:2 panel. Since you're not doing gaming, you can skip on dGPU models of both laptops.

Nevertheless, I believe there are other good options as well. Could you list out all 8250U/8550U laptops that are within your budget?

Desktop specs:

AMD Ryzen 5 5600 Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ARGB Gigabyte B550M DS3H mATX

Asrock Challenger Pro OC Radeon RX 6700 XT Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (8Gx2) 3600MHz CL18 Kingston NV2 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD

Montech Century 850W Gold Tecware Nexus Air (Black) ATX Mid Tower

Laptop: Lenovo Ideapad 5 Pro 16ACH6

Phone: Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro 8+128

Those two laptops are my two choices because I like the HP ENVY 13", I know the product, I know it's a good productivity machine - It's status quo bias basically.
My other option was the Huawei because I just fell in love with it. The reviews are very positive and the looks are just stunning to me, subjectively.

My budget is can stretch to 1700€, you are welcome to make me discover alternatives !
