So im looking at getting a headset and i stumbled across these A50's on ebay and wondered what you guys thought about it.

They would cost me £55 in total as i have a £10 voucher on ebay so i dont see any reason not to go with these for that money compared to whats out there.

Also wireless is critical for me if anyone wants to recommend others

I personally am using the Astro A50. Can't say I like them at all. But if you're getting them at 45 GBP, then I suppose that's an alright deal. I've gotten mine for 1000 AED (207 GBP).

In my experience I've learnt the following:

They sound wonderful on console (using the optical line out wire). Howver when I used them on my PC, the standard settings really drowns out some of the in game audio, especially when Dolby Atmos surround sound is turned on- it was a very unimpressive implantation of virtual surround sound. So I had to tweak a few settings.

To get the best sound outof the device I actually had to use the auxiliary port and plugged it into my motherboard but then I'd have to give up the "mix amp" feature of the headphones.

Speaking of the mix amp feature, I found it to be a huge headache as I had to constantly change the in game settings (dedicating "Astro A50 Game" for in game sounds and "Astro A50 Voice" for voice comms).

Another hassle is that the dock is poorly designed and you'd find yourself fiddling with the headphones so it's properly positioned to charge.

All in all, the only great thing about the headphones is that it's wireless. For a 45 GBP price point, I could definitely see the Astro A50 superseding other headphones in that price point. One thing I would do is try to contact the seller to see if you can see pictures of the device and inquire that the device is functioning as intended.

Well paypal blocked the payment due to issues with the seller and the item is no longer available so
