Evening, I wanted to know if when using a VPN does it hide what you're doing online? Sometimes I download anime videos from the internet and I wanted to know if your ISP can see what you're downloading if you're using a VPN, and I also wanted to know if someone could explain how VPN's work. As far as I know, they help watch Youtube at my college without having to enter a professors log in information.

In the most basic statements a VPN routes all traffic through a VPN companies servers so all of your traffic looks like it is going only to and from that one server. What happens on the other side of that server (what you are actually asking for) on the VPN and you can see.

 

Now this applies ONLY to a good VPN, so you ARE GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR IT! Free VPNS will not be much help to you because they will keep logs, and then that information can be accessed if someone was to ask for it.

Ditto on the free part. Never go for free VPNs like Hola. You can read more here if you are interested.
