Looks pretty good. Two suggestions I might have:

Maybe look into a 1440p monitor? Your system could definitely power it, and 1440p looks way better than 1080p.

Also, is 500GB going to be enough storage for you? 1tb 7200rpm hard drives can be found for very cheap, so you could consider getting one.

Overall, looks like a good build. Good luck, and have fun!

Main PC:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X • Noctua NH-D15 • MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk • 2x8GB G.skill Trident Z Neo 3600MHz CL16 • MSI VENTUS 3X GeForce RTX 3070 OC • Samsung 970 Evo 1TB • Samsung 860 Evo 1TB • Cosair iCUE 465X RGB • Corsair RMx 750W (White)

Peripherals/Other:

ASUS VG27AQ • G PRO K/DA • G502 Hero K/DA • G733 K/DA • G840 K/DA • Oculus Quest 2 • Nintendo Switch (Rev. 2)

Laptop (Dell XPS 13):

Intel Core i7-1195G7 • Intel Iris Xe Graphics • 16GB LPDDR4x 4267MHz • 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD • 13.4" OLED 3.5K InfinityEdge Display (3456x2160, 400nit, touch).

Got any questions about my system or peripherals? Feel free to tag me (@bellabichon) and I'll be happy to give you my two cents.

PSA: Posting a PCPartPicker list with no explanation isn't helpful for first-time builders :)

Which 1440p screen would you recommend?

You have a good choice of components and a well balanced build. But if you want something a little different to consider, here goes:

The monitor is a placeholder for now just to compare value.

For monitors, you can check this two if it would suit your taste: Dell S2716DG and Dell S2417DG

I was told that there was no point of getting a 1080 Ti with a 1080p monitor.

Maybe save money by going with the cheapest 8 core Ryzen. Not sure what your local prices are like but the R7 1700/X might be a lot cheaper.

Also you could save on the cooler. You don't need as much cooling power for Ryzen. The 8700K is a different story. So you could easily go with something like a Cryorig H7 or H5 Universal etc.

A 750W psu is more than needed. I would suggest 550W instead.

For 1080p/144Hz you would be fine with a GTX 1070/ti.

A few suggestions. The H100i V2 is an excellent cpu cooler and less expensive that the slightly better Kraken X62. 860 is the latest generation from Samsung and is less expensive than the 850. (A bit more could be saved going with the Crucial MX500.) A 650W psu is quite sufficient for the build. The Seasonic Focus Plus Gold is as good and less expensive than RMx. If the budget allows, I'd consider a better monitor.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

I would personally do the regular 7 2700. No need for the X, but I understand why you did it. You seem to have a larger budget and because of this I think you should go with Intel instead since intel is better with gaming. However, this build is solid nonetheless
