The 8700k is pretty toasty and requires a good cooler. At 100C your CPU is most definitely throttling. It won't get damaged, but getting a better cooler as soon as possible is highly advised.

so you think ill be okay playing at those temps while i wait for a new cooler?

i have a shitty aio cooler and i was just wondering if im at 100c while gaming am i going to burn out my cpu really quick? idle its at 45-50c

I'm so sorry I couldn't save you.

your CPU would be throttling hard at that point, but with even a basic 120mm AIO you should be fine at stock clocks. Is it heavily overclocked or something?

You should probably just downclock it to like 3.75ghz at a way lower voltage

Those are some really high idle temps, my 8700K idles at 28-30C and with all cores set at 4.5GHz I see temps of roughly 80-84C. All I have is a really basic Cooler Master Hyper 212X air cooler, that's about as basic as you can get. Something is wrong with your setup if your temps are that high, make sure your cooler is fully seated and working, also make sure your CPU core voltage isn't something ridiculous or unnecessarily high. I'm getting 4.5GHz on all cores running only 1.2V

i9-10900K, Asus ROG STRIX Z590-E Gaming WiFi, Asus TUF RTX3080, 32GB G.Skill 3200MHz CL14

Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB, EVGA Supernova 850W G3, Asus Xonar DGX

Are you sure you took the sticker off the cold plate on the AIO when you were installing it? And you put plenty of thermal paste?

yeah i took it off and yeah i took the pump off and reseated it and there was plenty

Your AIO just might be broken in some way then, it should fine at stock settings.

This should have some undervolting info for the time being.

What's the new cooler you're getting? I assume some 240mm AIO or giant air cooler?

i have the corsair 570x with the fans that it come with in the front, then i have the coolermaster ml240l aio. im pretty sure i did a bad job at setting the fans up for max airflow

Your case doesn't have any airflow lol...least as far as I can tell

Take off the front panel and side panel then check what your temps are.

the ML240 should be perfectly fine on cooling a stock 8700K.

The CPU wouldn't seat right in the socket? Or you can't tighten down the cooler all the way?

If it's all mounted correctly, and your side panels are off, maybe your pump is just messed up.

Are the AIO fans running at 100%?

Noctua should be fine, assuming it's the giant 2 fan model.

Or you could get a 360mm AIO, which your case supports, They're about $120 like the fractal one below.

if you bought from a retailer or something with buyers protection send it back and get all your money, but I would suggest getting something else like a drp4 or a the noctua behemoth. But if your room is at 30C then it is ust your amb temperatures, you are now in summer after all.
