I had a power outage last night and my Asus 1080 ti is no longer working. My computer was plugged into a belkin surge protector. The monitor told me no input detected. SO, I put another graphics card into my comp and it worked. Is it possible for only the gpu to be fried in a power outage? Is there any way to get the gpu working again or it?

Here is the kicker I watercooled the GPU so I feel my warranty is void with asus. I fear belkin, who wants me to send them my surge protector, is going to tell me the surge protector worked as intended. Any advise would be appreciated.

Also in light of this I bought a ups which I should have bought a long time ago...

So the GPU isn't actually broken?

Nevermind can't read

Does the GPU work in another computer?

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

If your stuff got fried because of an outage or lightning strike and it was plugged into the surge protector, either Belkin or your insurance company should cover it if you file a claim.

And thats why i absolutely always tell people to get a quality UPS for their desktop, and replace it when you build a new PC. For me thats every 4 years or so. Its such a small investment in the context of a PC but saves my ass more times than i can count.

Just about every server, workstation and even cash register is plugged into one. A high end(or really any desktop) PC should be as well.

Only way to be sure is put the suspected damaged gpu in a different pc. Sounds cooked though.

Since it is water cooled I have not taken the loop apart yet to test it. I plan to put the original cooler on it. But I may get a pcie extension cable to test it before a full take down.
