DisplayPort not recognized

I've got my new build hock up to my Asus VG248QE 24 but it is not detecting it but my other monitor which is hooked up through DVI is fine i switched the DVI cable and it works so it either the cable or the system i need some ideas before send the cable back

Just to make sure I'm understanding you properly:

Both monitors work via DVI, but not DisplayPort?

 

Try booting up with just one monitor plugged in, via DisplayPort. If it doesn't work, then I'd be inclined to get a different cable.
