Dell p2314h connection problems

Hi, i just purchased a dell p2314h monitor (it came in today). i was hoping i could hook up my ps3 to it through the DVI-D port. in the specs it said that the dvi-d port is with HDCP so i thought that all i needed to do is use a dvi-d to hdmi adapter and or cable in order for this to work however it did not.

i have an adapter like this one Amazon.com: HDE ® Dual-Link 24+5-Pin Male to HDMI Female Adapter: Computers & Accessories which i am sure works because when i plug it in the screen and attach the hdmi cable to my graphics card instead of my ps3 the screen shows my pc and my desktop and it works fine, in fact i am using the adapter and the hdmi cable right now to write this.

i also tried resting my ps3 video output by holding the power button till i hear the second peep but nothing happens i still have a black screen telling me no signal.

can anyone tell me what to do because i honestly don't know what to do anymore
