Steam controller

Hey guys,

I'm thinking about getting a steam controller as I can get it around £27 with a steam link. Personally I have never used a controller before but wouldn't mind learning to. The games i would play is elite dangerous and maybe gtav. I was also wondering if you could play non-steam games such as Overwatch. Also how good is the steam link?
