ASUS Router question

Will work.

I was looking to get an ASUS router to help with WiFi situation, either RT-AC53 or RT-AC1200G+.

Both of those support Access Point mode because I'll have to use the one that was provided by ISP as it is Router / Modem combo.

When you use the second router as AP you need to connect it to the first one via one of LAN ports.

The question is this: Do other remaining LAN ports still function for connecting devices to the network, or is WiFi only option on the second router?

SSD: Crucial MX300 525GB | HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 500GB - Toshiba DT01ACA300 3TB

It will work. But it's not the best method to be honest.

If you need wireless, get a proper access point, from Ubiquiti for example.

If I had a need for perfect wireless and the money needed, sure. But it is just to get WiFi to the other end of the house. The max number of devices on wireless is like 8, but most of the time it is like 4, 3 phones for viber and some web browsing, and one laptop doing youtube. So all in all nothing particularly heavy that this shouldn't handle.
