Basically since I moved, my PC has started to crash when idling; it's completely fine in games though. Before the move this was not an issue but I want to see if I can fix this myself before I make an insurance claim because it's a big bother. I have all C states disabled and I have an 8700K clocked at 5GHz with 1.28v. Keep in mind these settings have not changed; they were the same before and after the move.

Try messing with the windows power settings. The "balanced" profile keeps the CPU at a lower clock and then ramps up under load, the "high performance" profile keeps the CPU at full speed, and the "low power" profile keeps the clocks lower, even under load. If you change it to "high performance" it may help.

might sound weird but i've had overclocks fail after leaving a system off for a couple of days, seems like when the system is completely of power something changes.

try to up the voltage to for example 1.300 or 1.320 and see if it's stable again.

And the rest of the stuff?
Motherboard??
Power Supply??

And not all do 5GHz...
