MIC STOPPED WORKING

My mic suddenly stopped working and the last thing I remember doing is updating windows.How do I fix this? I am not using realtek audio

Check start—>settings—>privacy—>microphone and toggle allow apps to access your microphone

 

I’ve seen recent updates to 1803 turn this on so you’ll be able to test the mic in sound drivers but not work in discord or other communications software.

 

If it’s not that make sure your mic works on other devices and troubleshoot your audio driver

I encounted the same issue. It turns out its a new setting in windows 10.

Its related to cortana.

UPDATE: Randomly started working after restarting, I dont know what fixed it
