so i have a weird issue, im highlighting a bunch of folders and going to properties to find out the size (how many folders/files ect) and im finding its displaying the wrong amounts

2 scenarios for you

Scenario 1. my music folder, i right clicked then properties, its saying i have over 3TB of music, the first issue is its only a 2TB HD so i know that is 100% impossible. so i go into the music folder and highlight all the music and it comes back with a much lower realistic number.

Scenario 2. i have a folder with a bunch of program in it, i copy all the files inside to another folder, add up both folders and they are showing different sizes, different amount of folders and files... like 2gb out of 40gb difference, 1000 extra folders

i originally thought it was just windows 10 being shit, but i formatted and the same issue, the drive are in raid 1, i recently removed everything from the drive, formatted it and put everything back on and im experiencing the same issues

any ideas on what the hell is going on?

ok so

windows file calculator - the original folder shows 4076 files 39.5gb, i copyed that folder to somewhere else on the drive and it shows 5031 files 41.2gb

treesize calculator - the original folder shows 5031 folders 41.2gb, and that matched the copyed to another folder

so why is windows stuffing up on adding the original files?

Windows often makes little errors or major ones, Try updating windows and if you can recheck file size in windows OS or just redownload your files that should* fix it.

I'm sorry then here is where my knowledge falls off, try past forum posts. I usually reinstall windows when I get errors but I understand how that solution may not be possible/optimal.
