I am trying to remove an update package that I suspect is causing my computer to BSOD on boot with the code "INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE"

It is easy to get it to show the packages but when I try to remove the one that probably causes the issue using the remove-package DISM command, it freezes at about 87% and gives me an error message saying:

An error occured - Package_for_RollupFix Error 0x80071160

Error 4448

The WOF driver encountered a corruption in the compressed file's resource table

What do I do now? I need to remove this package in order to fix the problem. Thanks for your help.

Just reinstall Windows. That's the easiest thing right now.

I really can't, I have some important files that I haven't had time to back up and I can't lose them.

If there's even the smallest chance to fix this issue without having to re-install windows, I'll take it.

Thanks for your reply though! :)

Any chance you can boot into safe mode successfully?

No, unfortunately. I can get to the recovery environment but trying to boot into safe mode doesn't work.

If you can get into the recovery environment, see if you can restore to a restore point.

There are no restore points, I know how important they are, it is my brother's computer and he hasn't made any.

Oh man, if there are no restore points...yikes.

There's probably a solution, but I don't know it. If I think of something, I'll be sure to let you know, but for now, that's all I got. Good luck :)
