I don't know if any of you have noticed these issues with the ROG PG348, I have had three of these monitors pretty much since release, and until now I have been fine with them, but as the new monitors come ever closer to release I thought i'd post these annoying issues all three of my monitors exhibit, as I assume these monitors will go down in price and people will buy them more often.

This is the Gsync model of the monitor, all observations are made with respect to this model only, I do not discount the fact all three of my monitors are faulty.

When you first use the monitor it will be in standard 60hz, you need to overclock the panel via monitor options to attain the 100hz refresh, the instant you use the 100hz refresh you will notice afew things.

  • Colors become less vibrant, I assume this is due to a panel limitation linked to the overclock.
  • You will notice scanlines/inerlacing, the higher the refresh the worse it gets and this is quite obnoxious while using windows as its quite apparent on plain primary color backgrounds.
  • the overdrive system for response time for this monitor is way too aggressive, anything other than the default option causes horrendous ghosting the like i have not seen since first generation oled screens, its like playing with perpetual weapon trails enabled on everything.
  • panel lighting uniformity is all over the place, it truly is the luck of the draw with these.

Other than the dead pixel lottery and the bleeding issues that is pretty much sorted this far into the monitors manufacture, they're an amazing monitor!

I myself am looking forward to these new monitors that have been announce and eagerly await the Linus review {and secretly wish to see him drop a monitor}
