Hey there i have an FX8350 and it's overclocked to 4.4Ghz,but never really reaches it and only goes as high as 4.35 with 1.320V and my temps in game are like 54 on the package with BeQuiet! Pure Rock 120m and Arctic Silver MX-4 TIM.
Then i disabled the Cool&Quiet and C6 State feature in my BIOS and the temperatures of the CPU socket and CPU itself(Package)  went down with around 7-10 degrees.. and the other thing is now my CPU is running like it should, always staying on 4.4Ghz as i have selected the Performance power plan in control panel. The games are running smoother and overall the system feels more responsive than before.
My question is why my temps got lower? After reading about them on the internet  it seems like they should in fact do the opposite and rise the temps since now my CPU will run on the set voltage and core clock speed 100% of the time.

Maybe the cool&quiet thing was making your fan spin less to keep it quieter, and as a result it also slightly underclocked the CPU?

When overclocking the FX series it's always good practice to disable all power saving features. It will make the system more stable. You should be able to even push it further then 4.4ghz. I have an FX-8350 at 4.8ghz for daily use at 1.375v (actually runs at 1.401 with LLC) These chips do run hot but anything below 70c is perfectly fine. I'd say you have plenty of head room if you want to push it. Best thing about these older chips is they will take a beating.

I'm at work and don't have my settings in front of me of course, but if you really want I can take some pics of the bios later tonight and attach them. I don't recommend that you just plug this stuff in and run with it, you'll have to do your own stress testing and see what works for you. I'm running my FX8350 on an Asus Sabertooth r3.0 which at the time was pretty much the best am3+ motherboard you can get. This will give you a good starting point though. I mean honestly, worse case if you degrade your chip you can get another one on ebay for $40-$50. I actually have 2 extra ones brand-new in sealed boxes that I don't know what I'm going to do with yet. I don't know why, but I really like messing with the FX series.

DOCP Setting for overclock

Core freq: 24.5 (I think, what ever makes it come out to 4.8ghz)

DRAM: 1600mhz 8-8-8-24 (again I think)

Core Voltage= 1.375v

DRAM volt= 1.6v

Digi+ settings:

LLC: Ultra High

NBLLC: High

and then the phase control and some other settings I don't remember off the top of my head but something like 130% and ultra fast response

If you need more details, just let me know.

Only if you crank the voltage way up. I can promise that you will most likely replace the system before you ever notice any degradation to the cpu so long as you keep it under 1.5v
