So after one day, after many years usage, my Z-5500 seem to finally have died. The sound just stopped to work. I tried to turn off the power switch, and then turn it on again. And it worked again ! Yay I thought problem was fixed. But nope, another 3 days later, the sound died again. I did the repeat step again, only this time it would only last 24 hours or less. Repeated again, it only lasted a few hours before it died. Now i'm at the stage of it only last a few seconds when I turn on/off the switch before it dies. (no volume comes out of my speakers)

I am thinking it is the fuse on the Z-5500 that is causing this, as i've read on forums before.

But, my control panel (pod) is always working and have lights, and still is turned on even when no sound comes out. And the only thing to re-deliver the sound is the on/off button on the subwoofer.

So is this really the fuse? That's been expired? or is this an other hardware problem?

If any expert would know, much appreciated...

Powerstage failure?

What's that? Can it be repaired? would a fuse replacement solve anything?

Can a fuse ever become "weak" before it blows so it causes things like this? (that it can only supply out sound outcome for a few minutes before it can't push out any sound anymore, but still enough to give power to the pod)

Bought a whole new Z-5500 subwoofer (minus the control pod) it was in working condition from seller before he sold it to me. (tested and worked)

Plugged it in, still no sound comes out. Tried other speakers and including headset, from soundcard. Sound comes out.

Tried the headphone jack on the control pod on Z-5500, also no sound.

Let's conclude:

- PC Works

- Soundcard works

- His subwoofer and speakers works (tested before purchase)

- My control pod only thing not replaced and gives no sound even when plug in headphone jack on it.

Could it be the control pod is broken then?

Funny thing is, I still see the light LED on it, and can switch channels, volume etc on it. Could it still be broken?

Edit:

Control pod was working too. The fix was switching out the satelittes.
