OP doesn't need it for RAID or anything tho, so I just don't see why they need it.

Def didn't need, tbh not sure why it was on there. Looking to be the prob as well, issue hasn't occurred since I've uninstalled.

I have bought a new sasmung 850 evo 1tb ssd that I've added to my pc. I'm having a problem with Windows forgetting it's there in the middle of trying to download anything to it. I then have to restart the pc for windows to recognize it. Feel like maybe I did something wrong in formatting it or adding it to Windows.

It sounds like a loose or broken SATA data cable, so check that first.

I have changed cables out and problem still occurred. I have disabled a feature in Intel Rapid Storage Technology called link power management. it disables the sata device when there's no I/O activity. Could this have been my issue? So far so good after I disabled that feature.

My issue seems to be in this Intel Rapid Store Technology program if anyone is familiar with that, it's ui is awful and difficult to figure out how to change things seems to be what's removing the drive for whatever reason

Why even use Intel RST? I don't see the point TBH

have you tried unistalling the intel rapide store ive got 2 ssds and ive never ued the intel rapide store always used the ssd own drivers and programms

I have uninstalled Intel RST. Once I uninstalled it asked for a reset did the reset and it didn't see the drive. I did a shut down went into bios, bios saw the drive, booted up and the drive is now seen. waiting to see if it disappears..

My Dell XPS 410 used it for software RAID on 2 hard drives, but it was somehow integrated into my BIOS. Either that, or something about Intel RST came up when the BIOS read their identification data.

Edit: Sorry, I confused it with Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

Edit 2: Nevermind, they're actually the same thing...

Might've come bundled with something else, perhaps you installed chipset drivers or something at some point and it came with those.
