Delid 7900X

Go to solution Solved by App4that,

The stock TIM used by Intel between the die and IHS is used as it will last as long or longer than anything you can replace it with.

The only reason to delid is to gain overclocking headroom, if you're not going to overclock, leave it be.

Hi all, new to forums.

Just got a 7900X and have been advised to delid and replace stock TIM with Thermal Grizzly conductonaut.

I do not intend to do a high OC, (if at all) because this machine will need to last me at least 5 years but am concerned if the stock TIM will last that long.

Using Corsair h150i Pro.

I have heard that over time liquid metal TIM can dry out eventually and become useless and heat accelerates this process. Does anyone have experience with liquid metal drying out?

I am particularly concerned as I have heard that the i9 series runs very toasty.

Thanks.

If anyone asks you never saw me.
