Hi, I'm looking for an upgrade for my 7yr laptop. I came across to 2 ASUS laptop models which are:

-ROG Strix Hero GL503VD(Intel Kaby-Lake, 120Hz screen,1050 model)

-TUF FX504GE(Intel Coffee-lake, 60Hz screen, 1050TI model)

Both laptops have the similar prices in my country, which one is the better choice? Thanks :):)

a gtx 1050 cannot drive most games enough to take advantage of the 120hz screen. However, if you are a pro player who cares about framerates you can just crank down all the settings to low and play with high framerates.

So if you want to play decent looking games get the 60hz one

If you want to play games in high framerates but very low quality get the 120hz one.

But let me just tell you that the idea of a product having a 120hz monitor with a gtx1050 doesn't make sense to me. You sure that was the right specifications?

Yea it's the right specification, well frankly speaking I never tried gaming on a >60Hz monitor so I can't see the difference :$ anyway thanks for your opinion!

Just looked at the laptop and yeah it is a 120hz screen with a 1050... i get what you mean this is absurd. xD in my Country this laptop even cost's around 1900$ AUD... boy oh boy.

but yeah go with what ILiketoMobit said decide what you want to do with it. but when you go the decent looking games route maybe try and even look for a laptop with a 1060 in it in your price range there must be some where one.

>60hz gameplay is like... one thinks that 60hz would be enough, then by some chance he/she gets to try it. Then he/she can never go back.

apparently the prices between 1060 laptops and 1050/1050ti laptops in my country have a big difference(which I will never understand :\) so I'm unlikely to cross my budget unless there are sales with decent pricing, and thanks for your reply! :)

well, the inspiron 15 7000 with the gtx 1050ti is also a great choice if you don't mind the TN panel. However, in that laptop, the TN panel is actually a quality TN panel. I recommend you check it out.

just wondering, does a 1050ti works well with a 120Hz screen? I saw that the Strix Hero laptop is getting a coffee-lake upgrade with a 1050ti inside(GL503GE)

maybe i'll consider choosing between the 7567 and 7577 model as they don't have a huge difference :o

For the love of God, pls don't get both models. Runs VERY hot due to mediocre cooling. Combined with Asus poor QC and QA.

Where are you from? What's your budget and what are your requirements?
