Boot Check without Cooler (Watercooling)

Go to solution Solved by Oshino Shinobu,

If you want to be sensible, don't boot without a cooler, not worth it. Buy the cheapest LGA115x socket cooler you can find (or borrow one from a friend or something) and slap it on to test.

Hey, I'm new to these parts, so be gentle ;)

I've finally saved my pennies up to do a long overdue system overhaul, and with it I've decided to make my first splash into the world of watercooling.

I want to be sensible and do a boot check to make sure everything is working properly before I start the building process. But my current cooler won't fit the new socket type of the CPU. And obviously I can't set up my water loop prior to building.

Is it safe to boot as far as the BIOS to check everything without a cooler? (the 8700k doesn't come with a stock one according to the item listing). Or would it be best to also grab a basic air cooler for the check?

Thanks in advance for the assistance!

Thats what I thought, so ordered a cheap coolermaster one to test the system with. Many Thanks!
