I have completed setting up my system with a water cooling loop. I want to test just the loop for leaks without having the other components running.

I am using a ASUS Formula VI motherboard and CoolerMaster Pro M2 PSU. I know I can connect the pump to the molex connector and then bridge the green and black wires on the 24 pin connector to the motherboard. I was wondering is it ok to connect the 8pin + 4pin ATX connectors as well (see picture).

It is really hard to connect the ATX connectors after doing leak test because of the top rads. Will connecting these do harm to the motherboard or any other components?

no,

do not create other issues with extra power connection at this time for your leak test.

less is better in this case.

once all clear, then you can just use the 8-pin, the 4-pin is redundant for LN2 use.
