Hi all!

I've been having an odd problem recently and not sure what it is.

I built a computer last summer, here are the quick specs:

GTX 1080

Intel i7 7700k

16 gigs DDR4 RAM

I just noticed recently that my left monitor ( I have two monitors) flickers red on the top left corner once in a while, but it never happens on my second monitor. It's barely noticeable and the only reason why I even noticed it was because I've been working in Adobe Illustrator A LOT this week, trying to finish up projects. I read online that it could be the monitor, or the cord. Not sure what to do here... I'm really hoping its not my 1080.. I paid so much for it this past summer... With GPU prices at an all time high, I can't afford a new one...

Thanks for your input guys!!! Hope I put this in the right section.

try another device, like a spare laptop with the monitor

if it has the same issue, monitor problem, assuming not using VGA

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

Unfortunately, the monitor only has VGA, I could pick up an adapter though. THe monitor is roughly 4-5 years old... I haven't upgraded because it's been fine so far

Probably VGA doing the distortion then

adapter will do nothing if the monitor only has VGA input

It's funny that you say that because my other monitor is slightly newer and is using HDMI. Is there something I should test somehow? Like the monitor or graphics card? I mean I guess I could take out the 1080 and try it in another desktop, but I'd like to avoid it if possible.

Probably just VGA being VGA

Update: i just played a quick match of fortnite to test out my other monitor, and the game ran like butter, but there was some tearing in the game when I was moving around quickly, like thin motion tearing. I'm not sure if I'm just being paranoid about it or if there is actually something up

the tearing is caused by your FPS being higher than the monitor's refresh rate
