In a choir where we have a projector and the priest accepted to letting us put a projector on the ceiling and the tl;dr is that we need a brighter projector than the one we got

We have an "Epson PowerLite 1222"

quite literally need something that's brighter (thinking 3500 lumens) and can be mounted on a ceiling.

my main question is, should I consider staying with epson, or consider going with another brand?

That projector is already 3000 Lumens... You really can't get much brighter without going to pro grade like Christie, etc.

Epson is a great brand and you can get a little brighter with it: https://www.amazon.com/Powerlite-1980WU-4400-Lumens-WUXGA/dp/B00LV8R2HO/ref=pd_day0_229_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00LV8R2HO&pd_rd_r=6TQ1Y4BCFSAB5Q7E839C&pd_rd_w=q0Ek3&pd_rd_wg=HiE7r&psc=1&refRID=6TQ1Y4BCFSAB5Q7E839C

The cheaper side of Christie projectors: https://www.amazon.com/Christie-Digital-LWU502-Projector-121-042107-01/dp/B06XGXKG12/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1523461569&sr=1-1&keywords=Christie+LWU502

Fine you want the PSU tier list? Have the PSU tier list: https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40-rev-103/
