HDD Dock with cloning

How reliable are the cloning functions of a hard drive dock which will fit 2 or more drives? I've seen some that advertise with functions where they dont need to connect to a pc but just need power and one press of a butten and it does it all.

I'm guessing it wont be as good as a known and reliable software based tool. But will i run into the danger of destroying data because the dock messes up? Anyone heard something about this or has made their own experiences?
