Could you clarify what you mean? Like are you asking if a HDMI -> DVI-D to your monitor can handle sound and 1080p144hz? No, you will only get single link maximum refresh rates. If the opposite (DVI -> HDMI), then yes, it could work if you get one that supports HDMI v1.4. this is a good resource if you meant another config or more info about the topic:

The answer is still no. DVI has no ability to transfer audio. And to get 144Hz at 1080p you need to use DVI-D Dual link or HDMI 1.3 or higher.
