Hi there! I'm from Argentina and this is my first post here, and as you can guess from the title, I need some help to decide on what components to buy for my first PC.

I currently have a Corsair Carbide 400C and a Corsair CX750M PSU which, even though I was told this were one of the last things to get, they were on sale and I had kind of an idea of what I wanted to build.

» Processor: Intel i5 8600K 4.3GHz

» Motherboard: Gigabyte AORUS GA-Z370 Gaming 5

» Memories: Corsair Vengeance 8GB 2666MHz (x2)

» Graphics Card: MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 256-Bit 8GB GDDR5 VR Ready DirectX 12 SLI Support Graphics Card (GTX 1070 TI TITANIUM 8G)

The use of the PC is supposed to be gaming (The Witcher III, Dark Souls III mainly) and I also need to work smoothly with Photoshop and Illustrator.

I'm having trouble deciding what will I use to cool the PC and if it will be enough, as well as the display/monitor and if you have any alternatives or recommendations of the components I listed, I'll gladly listen to them. Thanks in advance.

This is a pretty high-end build, so no doubt it'll demolish PS and Illustrator.

For cooling, a Hyper 212 would be enough but if you want to OC more I'd recommend geting a 240mm AIO or one of the beefier air cooliers (like the Noctua dh-15, Dark Rock Pro 3).

Want to know which mobo to get?

Spoiler

Choose whatever you need. Any more, you're wasting your money. Any less, and you don't get the features you need.

Only you know what you need to do with your computer, so nobody's really qualified to answer this question except for you.

Indeed an nhd15 or dark rock 3are really nice coolers.

For the display id suggest avoiding cheaper gaming monitors as they are not focussed on coloraccuracy. Have a good look at the specs of the monitor and also look at good reviews preferably with color measurements like the newer ltt vids.

For peripherals get a mechanical keyboard. Doesnt have to be rgb but the mechanical bit is really nice. Also a wrist rest as you will use it alot i think so up the comfort level. Mouse i cant help you with as this is a personal preference just like audio. Go to a phisical store to try some stuff

I think I might go for the Dark Rock Pro 3. Putting a Corsair Commander on top would be unnecesary then, right? Thanks for the quick answer!

I don't see a point on using a corsair commander on anything other than builds which include custom loops. Most of the time 2 case fans will do just fine.

As the dark rock 3 doesnt have rgb and mobos have good fan control, no i dont think so unless you swap the fans with corsair rgb fans

Get an R5 1600/2600(april 19th) or an i7 8700 instead of the 8600K, better to have 6 cores/12 threads over some single threaded performance IMO

Or better yet try and save money on your GPU unless pricing is normal there and grab an R5 2400G system for $600 USD or less, whatever the equivalent is, will be alright for 1080p gaming and pretty cheap. Then save the rest of your money for a 4k IPS display for your work, or a next generation GPU in a few months. You get more performance per dollar that way.

again unless pricing is normal in your region or close to it.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

I'm wavering a lot between Ryzen; but prices in my country are a mess currently. The i7 8700K is between $480-$500 here, while the i5 8600K is around $300, which is a lot more accessible to me. The only reason I might be able to get the GPU I want is if I buy it in the US (Since in my country it's around $965 while it's ~ $620 there).

There's one major flaw with this, the 8th gen Intel CPUs have 6 cores.... at least the ones that matter.... soo..... whats your point? also, not having a GPU? I'm sorry, I thought this forum was for the LTT community, if i somehow stumbled into low-spec-gaming, ill see myself out, but have you ever USED a PC without dedicated graphics? I have, try playing csgo at 720p on medium settings at 40fps.... that's what i had on my old i3 pre-built from HP from like 2011, integrated graphics are NOT GOOD, i get that GPUs are expensive, but its a lot better to actually save up for a SEMI DECENT one, even a 1050 would be better than nothing (don't waste money on the poor excuse of a PCB that nVidia calls the 1030 tho, seriously, don't) the only time that integrated graphics should ever be considered is when budget is a MAJOR constraint, and there is absolutely no alternative, then yeah, get integrated, you need something for it to boot, but don't recommend integrated over dedicated when dedicated is a viable option.

Alright, I'm done now.

You do know the Ryzen APUs are roughly equal to a GT 1030 or RX 550 right? They're plenty alright, especially while GPU pricing is terrible. As the 10 series GPUs are about 2 years old now, so newer/better stuff is on the horizon at the same original MSRPs.

So basically if you can save your money instead of overpaying for a GPU right now, you're better off at the end of it all. Or miners will start dumping really cheap GTX 1080/tis, though I wouldn't exactly recommend though.

As for the CPU the i5 8600K is a 6 core 6 thread CPU, while the R5 x600 and i7 8700 are 6 core 12 thread CPUs. Better to have the extra multi-threaded performance if you need it, rather than an extra 10+fps with a 5ghz OC, that also means more cooling to deal with, more heat/noise in general.
