Dragonfly red DAC/AMP

Thank you for reading what I wrote, so I bought the Sennheiser 6XX from Massdrop and they sound okay on my SMSL M2 DAC/AMP but I thought they would sound better considering the price. I tried them out on the Dragonfly Black and they sounded the same as on the SMSL M2. Will they sound any better on the Dragonfly Red? Because those are the only two options this local store has, the red and the black. The Schiit Fulla 2 is not an option since it's supposedly not too much better than the Dragonfly Black and I would have to pay for it more than the Black due to shipping and taxes. The Schiit stack is not an option over the Red either due to shipping and taxes unless it sounds MUCH better than the Red. Thank you for your suggestions.

Hi. Are you dead set against the Schiit Fulla2 or the (Modi Uber + Magni 3) pairing? I’m suprised to find out the Dragonfly Red’s cheaper than the Modi/Magni pairing in your region. If that’s indeed the case, go Red.

 

My gut tells me to go the Schiit stack route, as it has an independent power sources. You might get some USB power issues with the Red. @Max_Settings , do you think the red dongle will drive the HD6xx to @dome3731 ‘s satisfaction? I drank the koolaid about “the Magni3 being the last amp I ever need”.

 

...and now I’m gazing lustily at the BiFrost & Asgard... heh heh.
